CEPOL course on crisis hostage negotiation and crisis communication organised in Italy

Organised by CEPOL's Italian Framework Partner École Universitaire Internationale, CEPOL onsite course 96/2022/ONS: Crisis Hostage Negotiation and Crisis Communication kicked-off in Conegliano (Italy) on Monday 24 October 2022, with the institutional welcome addressed by the town’s Mayor along with National and Local Authorities.
A total of 19 delegations and 31 participants attended this four-day course focusing on various topics interlinked with Crisis Hostage Negotiation and Crisis Communication:
- Crisis Hostage Negotiation stages and their implications.
- Dynamics of Negotiations in high profile incidents and the impact and management of media.
- Innovative hostage negotiation method: P.E.N.S. - Psych Evolving Negotiation Strategic. The technique is the latest scientific and practical innovation in the field of Crisis Hostage Negotiation.
The lectures delivered successfully on all the Course Learning Objectives also due to the round table sessions, role-play exercise and discussion of the most recent innovative technique in hostage negotiation. Throughout the duration of the course a facilitator helped participants gain a deeper understanding and assimilation of the new scientific findings related to human behaviour in all its facets, knowledge that is essential in all stages of the negotiation.
The learning environment was carefully designed to include free and networking time in order to create opportunities for participants to connect in a less formal setting. To do this, all available time windows were exploited, so that lasting networks and working relationships could be established among experts from different European countries that would contribute to future professional outcomes.
