Online Course 2005/2023/ONL: SIRENE I

The aim of the activity is to improve the operational cooperation between national competent authorities, such as border guards, police, customs authorities, immigration authorities and, in particular, the SIRENE Bureau in their efforts in maintaining a high level of security within the area of freedom, security and justice of the European Union.
Upon completion of this online course, participants will be able to:
- Define the main elements of all SIS alert categories in accordance with SIS Regulations;
- Describe the main procedures for exchange of SIS supplementary information;
- Apply the provisions of the SIS Regulations, SIRENE Manual and SIRENE Handbook;
- Select the appropriate SIRENE forms and complete them in the correct way, following the instructions and in line with DEBS;
- Use the training materials related to SIS and SIRENE available on CEPOL’s Law Enforcement Education Platform (LEEd) in their daily work;
- Discover the specificities of the national procedures at the level of each Member State;
- Identify methods of cooperating more efficiently and effectively.
The activity involves didactic learning through live sessions and online presentations by subject matter experts and interactive and collaborative learning through live discussions. The participants will need to read and study in addition some material presented to them before and during the online course.
The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.
The activity will take place from 24 April until 28 April and will involve scheduled live online sessions, mainly in the mornings, for which the participants presence is mandatory. In addition to the live sessions, which will involve 3 to 3.5 hours per day, the participants are expected dedicate time to read through the study material before and during the training, to benefit more from the activity.

Selected participants have to be registered to CEPOL's Law Enforcement Education platform LEEd where the online activity will take the place.
