E027/2023/EXB CEPOL Exchange-bite on Forensics II.

The aim of this training is to inform law enforcement officials about the different techniques used in the field of forensic examination by exchangees from Croatia, Latvia, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Türkiye.

With this Exchange-bite, the audience will be able to:

• Acquire general information about the Forensic Service Department of the Latvian State police and the Crime Scene Examination Department of Zagreb;
• Enhance the knowledge about the crime scene investigation techniques and methodologies in Latvia and Croatia, as well as identify the most valuable practises and lessons learnt from the Exchange Programme;
• Recognise the importance of the chain of custody in forensics - from the field to the laboratory;
• Collect information about fingerprinting procedures and practices in Portugal;
• Understand the main purpose of polygraph examination;
• Learn about main utilisation of polygraph examination in Slovakia and Slovenia;
• Differentiate the fingerprint databases used in Portugal and in Türkiye;
• Compare the benefits and disadvantages of the systems and applications used in Türkiye;
• Get acquainted with the relevant legislation in Türkiye.
