The aim of this webinar is to mitigate the risk posed by the use of the internet for the dissemination of terrorist and violent extremist propaganda by enhancing the preparedness of law enforcement officials to identify, flag, assess and counter online terrorist and violent extremist content.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the key obligations and operational implications of the EU framework on the dissemination of terrorist content online, including the requirements stemming from the TCO Regulation.
  • Identify and assess terrorist and violent extremist content online using relevant indicators, typologies and referral criteria applied by law enforcement and Internet Referral Units.
  • Apply appropriate procedures to flag and support the removal of terrorist content online while ensuring the timely preservation and lawful collection of digital evidence, including effective cooperation with Internet Service Providers.
  • Describe how Europol’s Internet Referral Unit supports Member States’ investigations related to terrorist content online and determine when and how to engage this support operationally.
  • Highlight best practices and lessons learned from relevant case studies on terrorist content in order to strengthen national procedures for detection, referral, evidence preservation and cross-border cooperation.

This activity is implemented by the CEPOL Knowledge Centre on Counter-terrorism.
