30282024.jpg

The aim of this hands-on webinar is to provide an overview of the ongoing enforcement actions implemented at EU level to protect intellectual property (IP) rights during the upcoming Olympic Games and UEFA European Football Championship. The main private stakeholders involved will provide operational intelligence to fight IP crime linked with these major sport events.

By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:

  • identify the main risks in terms of IP crime linked with major sport events, in particular the Olympic Games and the UEFA European Football Championship taking place in summer 2024;
  • understand the aim and objectives of joint enforcement actions such as Operation Fake Star, Operation Kratos and JAD Pirate, and how to contribute to them;
  • recognise the main authentic products linked to these sport events;
  • detect the main criminal trends in counterfeit goods and piracy targeting major sports events.

Combating new forms of organised crime requires more cooperation between police and gendarmes, customs officers, border guards, judges, and prosecutors. EU institutions, agencies and Member States work together to tackle organised and serious international crime through a permanent and key instrument: the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT).

CEPOL plays a crucial role in the EMPACT mechanism through the provision of specialised training and the identification of training needs within each common security threat. Every year, CEPOL provides a comprehensive training package for each common EU crime priority consisting of onsite, online and exchange training activities.

Check more of CEPOL's EMPACT training activities here.
