Online Course 65/2022: Entry/Exit System

The aim of the activity is to improve the use of Entry/Exit System (EES) for the enhancement of internal security by law enforcement practitioners.
Upon completion of the training activity, the participant will be able to:
- Summarise the legal mandate of EES and how this is translated to the use of the system;
- Identify and locate the high-level technical components of the system and associate those with interoperability components with other systems;
- Differentiate between the processes collecting and updating data in EES, distinguish the information contained in EES and the links created with interoperability with the identity data in other systems;
- Apply the biometric standards to ensure proper use of EES and appraise the results of biographical and biometric matches;
- Survey the role and responsibilities of law enforcement in relation to EES, while formulate the cases/situations where access to EES is provided for law enforcement purposes in conformity with related access rights.
The learning strategy focuses on providing participants with both a high-level theoretical but also practical understanding of Entry/Exit System, from the law enforcement end-user perspective. The activity is going to be based on presentations. It will also include a workshop where participants can further comprehend their responsibility regarding fundamental rights. Additionally, the presentation of case studies will facilitate the association between planning and implementation.
The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online hence the physical presence of participants will not be required. Learners will need to be available continuously during the live sessions for completing the course tasks.
The course will be delivered over a period of 4 days, from 14 to 17 November 2022. Participants are expected to study around 5 hours per day during this period to be able to complete the activity.
