Train-the-trainer course on EU Information Exchange Tools and Instruments delivered by CEPOL CKC in Rome

The CEPOL Train-the-Trainer course 54/2025/ONS on EU Information Exchange Tools and Instruments took place from 30 June-04 July 2025 in Rome (Italy). The activity was hosted by the Scuola di Perfezionamento per le Forze di Polizia, (Police Force Training School), an educational institution of the Italian Ministry of Interior.
The course, from the portfolio of the CEPOL Knowledge Centre on Law enforcement cooperation, Information exchange, and Interoperability, focused on equipping law enforcement training professionals with the necessary tools to design and carry out national training, conveying knowledge and developing skills of end-users confronted with the information exchange and the use of respective EU tools and instruments. In total, 24 participants from 15 EU Member States and 1 associated country were trained by experts from the European Commission, Poland, Europol, eu-LISA, and CEPOL.
The course began with a full day of sessions covering the tools, instruments, and mechanisms for information exchange between law enforcement agencies available at the European level. It also included a refresher course on the legal basis for cooperation under the information exchange component, including the role of JHA agencies, data quality and protection, and fundamental rights safeguards. In the following days, the activity programme was enriched with lectures and many practical exercises related to the methodologies for designing training products in accordance with key principles, approaches, and a process that underlies effective training design and delivery.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our participants and experts for their enthusiastic engagement and to our hosts for their warm welcome and unlimited support. A special thank you also goes to our colleagues from the Italian CEPOL National Unit, who, as always, worked closely with us, providing valuable assistance throughout all stages of the course preparation and implementation.
