The MoJLE International Training and Civilian Crisis Management Centre in Budapest was the venue for CEPOL seminar 2010/34 “Police Cooperation and Europol”. Organised by the Hungarian CEPOL team, the event attracted 23 participants from 13 Member States on 31 May – 4 June 2010.
The aim of the seminar was to raise participant’s awareness of services and products offered to Member States by Europol, and exchange and improve their professional skills in the fight against cross-border crime.
Particular attention was given to the following topics:
- Police cooperation and intelligence-led policing;
- Information flow – information handling protocols;
- Information about Analysis Work Files (AWF);
- Europol’s Operations Department and Serious Crime Unit.
Thanks to the Learning Management System (LMS) part of CEPOL’s e-Net, all of the participants can re-read and discuss the presentations given during the seminar.
With this in mind, whilst completing the seminar’s on-line evaluation form, one participant wrote: 'International Police Cooperation nowadays means networking or to be more precise, e-networking. CEPOL’s e-Net allows this in a safe, secure and efficient manner. '
Another participant added: 'The experience and expertise shared by the Professors was first class in my opinion. The organiser was close to us and responded very quickly and efficiently to participant’s requests.”
Much of the seminar’s success derived from the valued support from Slovakia, Europol, the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability and Interpol.
