First CEPOL awareness seminar on Joint Investigations Teams in Sarajevo

In the framework of the EU support to Law Enforcement in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), a team of CEPOL experts has conducted a first awareness seminar on Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) in Sarajevo, from 14 to 17 October 2013.
This training has been built up on the model of the CEPOL JITs courses, which have been jointly organised by the Finnish Police Academy of Tampere and the French Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Police of Saint Cyr au Mont d’Or in 2013.
The audience, made of 35 prosecutors and senior police officers from the different political entities of BiH, was far interested in the JITs concept, not only as an effective cooperation instrument between BiH and EU Member States, but also as a potential toolkit for smooth collaboration between judicial authorities and the police services of the different entities.
This training was widely echoed in the medias. All national TV channels and newspapers reported on the press conference prepared by Gyula Radi, representing the EU support to Law Enforcement in BiH. In his comments on behalf the expert team, Jean Marie Fiquet praised the quality of the course organisation and of the participants, also voicing their willingness for further training cooperation between CEPOL and the police training institutes of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
