Danish Child Abuse Internet Filtering Software (CSAADF) Rolled-out at CEPOL Seminar

An Internet filtering software (CSAADF), developed by the Danish Police National IT Investigation Centre to prohibit Internet users from entering domains containing child abuse related images, was the subject of CEPOL Seminar 100/2008 which took place on 7-9 October 2008.
The seminar was based on the Cospol Internet Related Child Abusive Material Project (CIRCAMP), which was established with the objective of detecting the distribution of child abuse images via the Internet through ad hoc monitoring measures.
The seminar, organised by the Danish National Police and Norwegian Criminal Investigation Service, attracted experts from 16 Member States, a number of NGOs and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
At the seminar, participants were informed about:
- Implementation and use of the software on a national level;
- How to investigate and review websites;
- The importance of establishing a common distribution server;
- The need for a joint standard for seized and secured technological information;
- The latest analysis of the secured sites.
Closing the seminar, Head of Department, Police Superintendent Soeren Thomassen, said: ”When hundreds of millions of Europeans will be unable to access sites containing images related to child abuse, any commercial interest in such activity may eventually disappear.”
The seminar took place at the Danish National Police Conference Centre, Avnoe.
