Course on organised property crime delivered in Austria

International cooperation is essential for combatting cross-border vehicle crime. To this end, the Austrian CEPOL National Unit organised course 19/2024: Organised Property Crime (OPC)– Motor Vehicle Crime, in close cooperation with the Federal Criminal Police Office - Department 3.2.6 - Vehicle Crime.
The activity took place in Stegersbach, Austria from November 25 to November 29, 2024. The 5-day activity included both theoretical and practical training delivered by national and international experts in the field of OPC.
Thirty-one law enforcement officials from EU member States and 1 official from Georgia attended the training. The aim of the course was to deepen existing knowledge of vehicle identification and to offer valuable insights on new approaches.
The response from participants was extremely positive. Furthermore, they expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to expand their international contacts and use the professional platforms offered to them to stay in touch and exchange experiences. When asked what was useful about the course, one participant underlined: "The course presented many important unknown details for vehicle identification."
A follow-up course on this topic is expected to take place in Austria next year, with the aim to offer law enforcement officials a new opportunity to further expand and deepen their knowledge on the topic of OPC.
