CEPOL course on victim identification in the area of child sexual exploitation

From 28 November to 9 December 2016, CEPOL organised in cooperation with Interpol and Europol the course 86/2016 “Victim identification in the area of child sexual exploitation”.
The course was targeted to officers from EU law enforcement institutions engaged in the identification of victims of child sexual abuse from material distributed online. Its aim was to create or improve the skills of law enforcement officers specialised in victim identification at a national and international level. Trainers from the United Kingdom, Belgium, USA, Canada and Australia took part in this activity.
Practical exercises played an essential role at this course. Participants had the chance to analyse child abuse material and live data, learned about investigation standards in this field, and gain knowledge on the investigation of open source material.
The organisers acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of all participants, and stated that the course will clearly benefit children lives. The next edition of this CEPOL course will take place from 18 to 29 September 2017 in Poland.
