From 9-12 May 2023, the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA)Arrow icon, in cooperation with the European Judicial Training Network, organised CEPOL onsite training activity 84/2023/ONS: "Investigating and Preventing Corruption". Held in Thessaloniki, Greece, the course focused on enhancing law enforcement capacity in the relentless fight against corruption.

During the four days of the training, 40 participants from various EU Member States engaged in practical exercises and scenarios facilitated by experts and trainers who shared insights about integrity assessment practices, anti-corruption strategies, investigative techniques, asset recovery, information exchange and international cooperation.

Trainers/experts from OLAF, EPPO, Europol, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, the UK National Crime Agency, the Center for the Study of Democracy in Bulgaria, the Copenhagen Business School and Greek prosecuting and judicial authorities in Thessaloniki collaborated to provide a training course whose primary objective was to promote the exchange of knowledge and effective anti-corruption measures among law enforcement professionals. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of various aspects related to corruption including identifying its forms, manifestations and key actors as well as employing international tools for prevention, investigation, and prosecution.

The training activity proved to be an excellent platform for networking, collaboration, and the sharing of experiences, allowing participants to develop new skills and strategies for combating corruption in their respective jurisdictions.

KEMEA is proud to have organised this training activity under the auspices of CEPOL, and in cooperation with the European Judicial Training Network. The event successfully demonstrated the EU’s commitment to strengthen law enforcement agencies’, prosecuting and judicial authorities’ capacity to fight corruption.
