CEPOL’s TOPCOP project implemented a Trafficking in Human Beings regional training between 12-16 September in Bucharest, Romania to enhance the knowledge of investigators and prosecutors from Eastern Partnership countries by analysing current trends and challenges.

Specialists and senior law enforcement officials from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova attended this 5-day course to examine the root causes of trafficking, profiles of victims and perpetrators, and the recruitment methods used by traffickers.

The activity was opened by Mr Maximilian Nicolae, the Director of the National Agency combatting Trafficking in Persons from Romania, who highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in tackling this type of crime.

As a key result of this training, a joint course curriculum was developed and made available for national authorities to integrate it into their training system and to ensure further cascading of the newly acquired knowledge.
