EUROMED Police steps up the capacity of North African countries to apply operational intelligence analysis

The EUROMED Police project, in cooperation with Europol, organised a training on operational intelligence analysis to enhance the capacities of North African countries in the fight against criminal groups.
As organised crime is a complex and evolving phenomenon, law enforcement officers need to refine their techniques to find the links between actors operating in criminal networks, track the means they use to commit offenses, and identify the cross-border aspects of organised crime.
As an answer to this necessity, EUROPOL developed this course, focusing on the cycle of criminal intelligence analysis and exploring aspects such as planning, collecting, and evaluating information. During the activity, participants were also introduced to the use of charts, mapping and hypothesis building when conducting criminal investigations. Moreover, analysis simulations complemented the theoretical aspect of the training.
The course took place from 28 August to 1 September in Tunis, Tunisia, with the participation of 26 law enforcement officers from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and AFRIPOL.
