EUROMED Police Project: Pilot course to combat drug trafficking hosted in Amman

An important milestone for the EUROMED Police Project is the five-day "Drug Trafficking Multiplication Course" taking place this week in Amman, Jordan, from 25-29 August.
This activity marks the beginning of the final phase of a comprehensive training initiative addressed to professionals combatting drug trafficking that work in the EU’s South Partner Countries law enforcement services. This activity has been designed to cascade the knowledge and skills of law enforcement officials, thus ‘multiplying’ the number of recipients of the training to enhance cooperation and bring tangible results. To facilitate the dissemination of knowledge within the Jordanian law enforcement, the course is delivered in Arabic.
Three Jordanian experts who previously participated in the EUROMED Police project's "Train the Trainer" programme (*) are delivering the activity. This final step in the training package will support the Jordanian law enforcement services in their efforts to enhance the knowledge of their colleagues, by ensuring that the expertise developed over the past year is effectively disseminated across the country's drug trafficking units. Course participants belong to different services involved in the fight against drug trafficking from various areas of Jordan.
(*) The EUROMED Police Project Train the Trainer programme started over a year ago in Hungary. It was part of a collaborative effort between experts from the European Union, the EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats) community and the Southern Neighbouring countries. Together, they developed a comprehensive Handbook on the fight against drug trafficking, which is serving, among others, as the foundation for the above training activity. The Handbook, consisting of two main sections—a Trainer Guide and materials on drug trafficking—was initially created to standardise regional training. Following its development, the Handbook was translated into Arabic, allowing for its widespread use in local training sessions.
