Empowering Moldova's future leaders: EU4Security Moldova implements comprehensive leadership course in Chișinău

In the framework of the EU4Security Moldova project, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), implemented a Leadership and Management in Internal Affairs course in Chișinău, Moldova, from 25 to 29 November. This training targeted the personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, focusing on those in managerial and leadership positions. The aim was to enhance participants' professional growth while providing an overview of modern leadership trends and understanding strategic thinking and management within law enforcement agencies.
During the course, 24 participants explored different leadership models, strategic aspects of leadership, and financial management. Special attention was given to emotional intelligence and effective communication techniques, essential soft skills for leaders in the policing sector. The training also addressed team leadership and performance management, promoting a work culture within the Ministry that values the wellbeing of staff.
This course is part of the first component of the EU4Security Moldova project, which seeks to further develop the professional training system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. By addressing staff in managerial positions, the project aims to help the Ministry develop a modern managerial model, ultimately boosting its capacity to provide security services to all citizens and residents of the Republic of Moldova.
One participant expressed satisfaction with the course, stating:
Upon being nominated to participate in the course organised by CEPOL, I immediately recognised the exceptional opportunity for personal and professional development in an international environment. Professionally, this opportunity aims to contribute to the quality of decision-making within law enforcement structures in the Republic of Moldova by training and developing top managers in the spirit of applying the most modern and efficient management models. This, in turn, seeks to increase institutional productivity and deliver public safety and order services at the highest quality standards — a pressing necessity for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova in its process of European Union accession.
This course underscores the commitment of the EU4Security Moldova project to fostering state and societal resilience within the Republic of Moldova by enhancing the capacity of its Ministry of Internal Affairs to combat serious and organised crime.
