Within the frame of CEPOL’s Counter-Terrorism Information Exchange and Criminal Justice Responses (CT INFLOW) project, 19 Law enforcement officials from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan and Lebanon as well as from the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC) and the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) took part in a regional course on cyber terrorism in Budapest.

The activity was held between 7-11 March at the premises of the CEPOL Cybercrime Academy in Budapest, Hungary, in close cooperation with the International Training Centre of the Hungarian National Police. During the five-day long course, CEPOL and experts from Hungary, Romania and Spain as well as from Europol, Eurojust and the Council of Europe’s CyberSouth Project provided support to participants.

The aim of the course was to combine the advanced level expertise of EU and MENA law enforcement officers, share best practices for information exchange, establish common approaches and create synergies among relevant national authorities and international organisations. Furthermore, the activity addressed common challenges in relation to cyber terrorism. The participants also had the opportunity to gain insights into topics like national cyber security strategies, the use of Internet and Darkweb as platforms for terrorist activities, and the inter-agency preparedness for cyber-attacks.
