Covid-19 situation worsening urges cancellation of training activities in some countries

In light of the worsening of the situation in some EU Member States and International Cooperation partner countries and its effect on CEPOL operations, and in order to protect the good health and well-being of both CEPOL staff and participants in onsite activities, the CEPOL Executive Director has decided today on the suspension, with immediate effect, of those planned onsite activities taking place in countries where the coronavirus notification rate equals or exceeds 500 cases per 100 000 population in the last 14 days.
The surge of coronavirus infections in some parts of Europe and the EU’s Neighbourhood region is being closely monitored and evaluated by the Agency. The Agency supports its assessment and evaluation of the situation on data provided by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
CEPOL National Units, CEPOL National Contact Points and key partners impacted by this decision will be notified by CEPOL staff on the suspension of their onsite training activities.
The type of onsite training activities that can be impacted by this decision include:
- Onsite training activities, including training activities carried out in the context of externally funded projects;
- Exchanges;
- Missions of CEPOL staff, except missions permitted upon approval of the Executive Director when compelling business needs require so;
- CEPOL organised meetings.
For activities, where the implementation belongs to CEPOL Framework Partners, based on the concluded Grant agreement, the responsibility for the risk assessments stays with these partners.
CEPOL will continue to assess on a country-by-country basis the risks associated with the implementation of its planned training activities as per the official data published by ECDC every Thursday.
