CEPOL welcomes delegation from Lebanon

On 12 July, CEPOL Executive Director, Ms. Montserrat Marín López welcomed 16 representatives from the Lebanese law enforcement, military, civilian safety authorities and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), as part of their 4-day study visit to Budapest focusing on training, within the framework of the European Union funded project “Strengthening Capability for Integrated Border Management in Lebanon” (EU IBM Lebanon Phase 3).

Opening the meeting, Ms Marín López expressed her gratitude for the strong involvement and cooperation of the Lebanese authorities within the scope of the agency’s mandate, and underlined the importance of knowledge sharing and cross-border law enforcement cooperation in addressing evolving crime patterns and trends.

At CEPOL, the Lebanese delegation had the opportunity to get acquainted with the agency’s current training offer, particularly regarding the eLearning portfolio available via CEPOL’s online learning platform LEEdArrow icon. Training activities implemented within the scope of the agency’s externally funded projects, were also highlighted, as Lebanon is one of the beneficiary countries (EUROMED Police, CT INFLOW). Finally, opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in the field of law enforcement training were explored.

“Strengthening Capability for Integrated Border Management in Lebanon” (EU IBM Lebanon Phase 3) is a European Union funded projectArrow icon, implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy DevelopmentArrow icon, with the aim to help the country in its fight against terrorism and serious cross-border crimes by strengthening the resilience of its security institutions and increasing the effectiveness of their action. It provides relevant Lebanese agencies with the support needed in effectively and comprehensively managing the country’s borders and also seeks to improve Lebanon’s capacities to deal with borders through Integrated Border Management
