On 24 July 2026 in Warsaw, during the national Police Day celebrations marking the 107th anniversary of the Polish Police, CEPOL’s Executive Director, Jan Pecháček, received a bronze medal in recognition of CEPOL’s contribution to strengthening law enforcement cooperation in the EU and beyond through training.
At the ceremony, Europol’s Acting Executive Director, Jürgen Ebner, also received a silver medal—a further testament to the strong cooperation between the Polish Police and the two partner Justice and Home Affairs agencies. Both medals were presented by the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Police, General Marek Boroń.
I am honoured to accept this medal on behalf of CEPOL, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training. This distinction reflects our longstanding cooperation with the Polish law enforcement authorities. We greatly value Poland’s role in our shared efforts to strengthen security in the EU and its neighbourhood and look forward to building on this strong partnership.
said CEPOL’s Executive Director after receiving the award.

The visit also provided an opportunity to take stock of CEPOL’s achievements during the period covered by the previous trio of Council presidencies, when Poland played an active role in the leadership of the Agency’s Management Board. Discussions also focused on ways to strengthen future cooperation.
While in Poland, CEPOL’s Executive Director also visited the Police Training Centre in Legionowo, where he learned more about its training infrastructure, including the facilities of the Centre for Combating Illegal Drug Laboratories.
